The Weaver - Leaders Message

SGP Leader Naomi Hunter

Dear Saskatchewan Greens,

When I talk to Greens across the country and they reminisce about “the good old days” and what they miss, they always list off things we still do as Greens in Saskatchewan. Things you might take for granted. We are a living culture of grassroots democracy. We get to know one another, check on each other’s well-being, and enjoy a non-status camaraderie among candidates and volunteers. Being “ordinary people” is what makes us so relatable to voters on our doorsteps. We, as Greens, revive people’s faith in democracy and their confidence to try something different when it comes time to cast their ballot.

The big bonus is that donations of $25 or more are eligible for a tax credit of up to 75% of your donation.

A report shows August rental rates fell in major cities like Vancouver and Toronto but rose in smaller markets. Regina rents jumped 18%, while Saskatoon, Edmonton, and Winnipeg also saw increases.

(The Saskatchewan Green Party will put in place rent controls and ensure affordability in renting– something the Sask Party has not done.)

Dangers in Our Language on Homelessness

By Cathy Crowe, Rabble.ca

The language surrounding homelessness has evolved significantly, influencing both perceptions and solutions. Terms like "unhoused" and "dehoused" highlight systemic causes, while outdated stigmatizing descriptors persist. Activists call for action, not bureaucracy, as climate emergencies worsen conditions. Government responses, like warming buses and Heat Relief Networks, remain inadequate.

Why Two Parties Are Mum on Potash Royalties

Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck promises a six-month gas tax suspension and $2 billion for education but avoids potash royalty reform, fearing business backlash and losing corporate donations. Quality of Democracy Envy

Nancy Carswell, Treasure-COA of the Saskatchewan Green Party
