As we stand on the cusp of a new year, I find such hope in the strong, forward-looking policies that we Saskatchewan Green Party members have created together over the years. When I speak to elementary and high school-age children, they instinctively feel aligned with our core values and messages. Youth see the value in looking after both the environment and those who are in unfortunate circumstances. Not only must we keep articulating these important policies so that youth have a fulfilling future, but we also look to the youth as the next wave of voices for the fulfillment of these policies and the best Saskatchewan possible.

The future isn’t something we wait for — it’s something we build together. When we invest in young people, we unlock courage, creativity, and solutions the world desperately needs. Youth carry not only the energy to imagine a better tomorrow, but the power to make it happen in real time.

Fighting climate change and ending poverty are not separate battles; they are one shared mission. A healthy planet and a just society grow from the same roots: opportunity, fairness, and caring for one another. When we protect our environment, we protect livelihoods. When we lift people out of poverty, we strengthen our ability to protect the Earth.

By standing with young people, especially those most affected by injustice, we choose hope over fear and action over apathy. We choose a world where no one is left behind, and where progress is measured not only by growth, but by dignity, resilience, and shared prosperity.

The challenges are big, but so is our collective strength. And when we empower the next generation to lead, we don’t just change the future, we secure it.

Christmas is a time when many of us really see our children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews growing up another year. Let us treasure this special time as an extended family and feel the inspiration that the next generation brings us.
