P07 (Fornssler & Jones): Purchasing of Renewable Energy

WHEREAS it is desirable to encourage private citizens and co-operatives to install renewable energy power production to meet personal consumption,
AND WHEREAS SaskPower is a Crown corporation,

BE IT RESOLVED that the GPS advocate that SaskPower be instructed to pay for all excess power production produced by private citizens, corporations, or co-operatives from renewable sources.  The rate of reimbursement is to be the same as the commercial rate charged by non-renewable energy sources such as coal.

Reimbursement for renewables

Reimbursement for renewables could be a generous feed in tariff that reduces over time. This would give a greater incentive to renewable energy production and would be a wise use of our potash royalties.
