A01 (Cosbey & Ottoson): Constitution and Bylaws Review Process

Whereas the Consititution and Bylaws of the Green Party of Saskatchewan

  • are inconsistent,
  • are incomplete,
  • are lacking in conceptual differentiation and cohesion between Constitution and Bylaws,
  • fail to ensure democratic process in some areas,
  • and inadequately mandate the political role of the Party;

Be it resolved that the Executive be charged with establishing and overseeing

  • a review of the Consititution and Bylaws of the Green Party of Saskatchewan,
  • that seeks to preserve and improve on the good work that has been incorporated in the current Constitution and Bylaws, and to respect the history and unique nature and mandate of the Green Party of Saskatchewan, while also referring to and learning from the Constitution and Bylaws of other parties, both green and traditional;
  • the result of the review being a comprehensive proposal for revision,
  • a draft of which shall be made available to the membership for feedback, in a timeframe that allows member feedback to be considered and incorporated in the draft prior to its being submitted as a proposal
  • for consideration by the membership at the 2010 Annual Convention.

Be it further resolved that the Executive be charged with establishing an online forum to allow members to share thoughts and to dialogue concerning the proposed revisions, both during and after the review process.
